Producer Governance
LITS-SA is designed to stay farmer-led, transparent, and resistant to capture. Governance is not paperwork—it’s how you protect trust.
What we mean by producer governance
- Farmers have meaningful representation in decisions that affect farm operations and costs.
- Decisions are documented: who decided what, when, and why.
- Clear checks and balances so no single group can dominate.
- Practical consultation—especially with commercial and emerging farmers.
Transparency commitments
- Publish core policies (data access, pricing, standards, change management).
- Publish governance updates and meeting notes where feasible.
- Define conflict-of-interest rules and enforce them.
- Operate feedback channels for producers.
How this connects to levies and mandates
Whenever a levy or mandate is proposed, governance and transparency become non‑negotiable. Farmers must be able to see how decisions are made and how funds are used.
